BYEP Program Manager

Looking for a rewarding, challenging, and inspiring position working with amazing teens in a fun and unique setting? Big Sky Youth Empowerment’s adventure-based group mentoring program is seeking TWO talented and highly motivated individuals for our upcoming Program Manager positions. These dynamic individuals will work with vulnerable adolescents to facilitate a group social emotional life skills curriculum paired with experiential adventures. The ideal candidate is creative, enthusiastic, energetic, compassionate, professional, hard working, and stoked for a new challenge.

Key Job Functions

  • Design and facilitate developmentally appropriate curriculum to adolescents presenting with a variety of risk factors in a small group setting

  • Plan, organize, supervise, and participate in group experiential adventures including but not limited to skiing, snowboarding, rock climbing, white water rafting, hiking, photography, pottery, and painting guided by local adventure partners

  • Recruit, interview and enroll new participants

  • Advise and interact one-on-one with participants in need of social emotional support and connect with additional resources when appropriate

  • Participate in recruiting, interviewing, training, and supervising a dynamic staff of 30-40 volunteer mentors

  • Communicate professionally with participants, families, community partners, and other key stakeholders

  • Collaborate and communicate with colleagues to effectively manage logistics and program delivery

  • Represent Big Sky Youth Empowerment at various fundraising events and community stakeholder meetings

  • Other tasks as required to fulfill the position and mission of BYEP

Schedule

  • Varies; evenings and weekends required

  • Position #1 - Full time salaried beginning August 1, 2019

  • Position #2 - Part time hourly beginning October 1; Full time salaried no later than January 2

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Experience working with adolescents and/or at-risk populations

  • Ability to build positive relationships

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Enthusiastic, energetic, and creative with a passion for helping youth

  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail

  • Flexible and able to adapt to a variety of unique situations

  • Ability to manage many moving parts

  • Minimum 2 year commitment

Qualifications Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology or a related field

  • 3-5 years working or volunteering with at-risk adolescents

  • Group facilitation experience

  • Experience in a supervisory role

  • Minimum 3 year commitment

Compensation

  • Full time, exempt

  • Starting salary = $36,000

  • 100% Health/Dental/Vision Insurance after 60 days

  • Up to 3% IRA match after 6 months

  • Flexible schedule including mandatory paid time off
